I really like Gpay and have been using it for almost all of my in-store and transport payments for over a year now (I'm in the UK so Gpay is supported practically everywhere). I'm considering buying my girlfriend (and possibly myself) a Samsung Watch Active 2 when they launch at the end of September, and she’s a heavy Gpay user like myself.
I read somewhere that Google – and more specifically Gpay - hasn’t been blocked from supporting the Samsung Watch family, they’ve simply chosen not to (even though they’ve recently launched Google Translate App for the Tizen OS on Samsung Watches...go figure!).
In the UK Gpay doesn’t require authentication for small payments, even from the lockscreen. However, Samsung Pay requires authentication for every single payment. That might not seem like a big issue, but after using Gpay for so long the extra step to reach payment is a deal breaker.
I was wondering whether anyone has heard or seen anything indicating that this might change in the near future?
